Saturday:
We are having a 5K at the school I work at on November 19th so I decided to run the course or sort of where I thought it is going to go. The first part is pretty hard. It is up a hill for a pretty long way. The rest was not too bad except running back up the rail trail which is not that steep but it is a steady climb for about 3/4 mile. I ran it slow but ran the entire course. I've still not decided if I'm going to run or not in the 5K. I'm afraid there won't be many runners and I would hate to come in near the end of the pack. Big races are better. I know I can't win but I won't be last..ha
Sunday:
I decided that Sunday was going to be my long run. The longest I've ever run at one time is 60 minutes. I was aiming at 90 mintues this time. I had sort of tracked out where I was going to run. I found a route from my house that was pretty flat, only a few little humps to climb. I started out in front of my house and ran up and down my road for 30 minutes. The headed out the Startown road to the middle school. I would say it is around 1.5 miles or a little more from my house to the school. When I got to the school I ran around the track 4 times (1 mile). Track running is boring to me. Then I headed back down the road towards home. By the time I got to my house I had run for 92 minutes. I got my phone out of my pouch and the dang GPS had stopped, so I don't know exactly how many miles I ran. I estimated I ran somewhere between 7.5 and 8 miles. Soon I'm going to go to the park and run there since the course is marked by how far you have gone. I was happy that I did this and didn't stop. Hopefully I can run a long run most every weekend.
